HEALING IN MOTION
DANCE
ABOUT US
MISSION
Based in Salt Lake City, Utah, Healing in Motion Dance offers an encouraging, communal environment in which participants with neurodegenerative conditions can develop positive, joyous connections with movement post diagnosis. Healing in Motion Dance is a partnership between the University of Utah School of Dance and School of Physical Therapy, drawing upon neurological and vestibular physical therapy practices and principles of alignment and strength building from ballet. In addition to the participants, the instructor works alongside volunteers from diverse backgrounds in physical therapy and dance to help facilitate an adaptive, individually tailored environment to improve the quality of movement in each individual. Volunteers who participate also find a renewed sense of empowerment and appreciation of the body in motion in other aspects of life.
